Spot the Duck A Silly Rhyming Picture Book for Children edition by Gerald Hawksley Children eBooks
Now this is a cute and truly intelligent kids' book. The story is that Chuck lost his duck by the name of Spot. The story carries on telling how Chuck is looking for his duck.
However, observant readers/listeners/children will notice right away that Chuck carries a duck around on his head. I can see children giggle and wonder why Chuck, who helps other children find their pets (which they carry around on their heads) cannot find Spot.
Spoiler Alert!
*****
The duck on Chuck's head is not Spot, it's Fred. Spot is a bath time duck which is hidden in the bathroom.
Besides that the book's illustrations are adorable this book creates an opening to talk about many important questions and topics.
* You must ask questions (e.g. what kind of duck is Spot?)
* Don't assume that you know and can interpret what you see.
* Even if something looks silly it does not have to be silly.
An absolutely lovely, intelligent, and even brilliant children's book with lots of word plays, including the title: "Spot the Duck."
5 stars - highly recommended

Spot the Duck A Silly Rhyming Picture Book for Children edition by Gerald Hawksley Children eBooks Reviews
I liked the sequence of events that led to the ending. It would be good for. New reader to keep their interest using humor and rhyming. I enjoyed reading it with my six year old daughter and I think we can practice using theses types of books, short and simple.
What a funny, colorful and happy surprise. We follow his quest to find his duck with a delightful plot twist in the end. The pictures are very simple, but full of color and with great design. We had fun reading it out loud. Made me curious for a next book in the series.
This book makes my kids laugh every time I read it to them. I found it so amusing myself I have shared it with other adults. I have downloaded some of the author's other books and enjoy them as well.
I ended up getting this book because it was free for the day on . I'm so glad that I did! My 3 year old twin boys love it. It's full of rhymes, has cute illustrations, is silly and fun, and even has a neat twist at the end! It is definitely a great book for children under 5, if you're reading it to them. It is also a great book for children who are just learning to read! I definitely recommend adding it to your children's library!
This book is so stinking cute. I babysit quite a bit, so I like to have several children's books on my kindle app on my phone to entertain kids if they want a new book to read, or if we're out and don't have easy access to a good book. I have gotten several of this author's books, and other children's books too. While I do enjoy Hawksley's other books, I like this one the most. The kids are so shocked at where Spot the missing duck ends up being, and they love reading it over and over. It even made the 8 and 11 year olds I was babysitting dissolve into laughter.
Cute silly story for toddlers and preschoolers. Chuck has lost his pet dog so he searches everywhere. He meets two friends who have also lost their pets. Chuck helps Jen find her hen and Matt find his cat, but Spot the Duck is nowhere to be found. Young readers experience Chuck searching through different kinds of weather, and by various forms of transportation. Readers can be encouraged to identify them. At the end of the day, Chuck returns home exhausted and decides to take a bath. Will he find Spot?
There is lots of humor in this book. The rhyme will keep young readers laughing. Ending appears obvious, but there is a surprise ending instead. Illustrations are big, bright, stylized and simple. Shift in tense from present to past is a bit awkward, but doesn't dramatically affect the story line. Recommended especially for toddlers and preschoolers, but also fun for early readers.
My kids thought this was one of the funniest books in the world. It took us all by surprise in the end.
My oldest is five and is learning to read. This book was great for him to not be overwhelmed with pages full of text. I was really excited for him to pick up on a few words after I said them a few times.
The kids were up in roars with each obsticle Chuck faced or where he went searching for his duck. Thanks author for the laughs. This will be our nightly book for the next week.... at least, if not longer.
